Mobile Network Solutions: Types of Mobile Network Solutions

Virtualization has opened new doors for businesses seeking to streamline their data centers and create more efficient networks, and with the advent of software-defined mobile network solutions (VMS), this is now possible. VMS is an offshoot of the more traditional role-oriented virtualization, which seeks to implement a business model within a traditional server. With VMS, the underlying hardware is the same – meaning that the user is able to enjoy the same network functionality regardless of whether they are on-premises or off-premises. The difference lies in how the VMS manages the virtualized environment:

With the recent evolution of enterprise mobility, consumers have more accessibility to mobility. With consumers becoming more accustomed to their devices, they are no longer content to merely accept wireless connections that quickly lose connection. They want a system that incorporates mobility into its design and allows them to access their devices wherever they are in the world. Traditionally, businesses have used proprietary systems and application software to provide this capability. This resulted in system-wide connectivity issues, application crashes, and slower performance. With the introduction of mobile network solution providers (MSPs) and mobile app development for mobile devices, all this can be changed.

An example of how technology has evolved to benefit users is the mobile network solution that uses Wi-Fi for mobile devices. A railway company in the UK wanted to improve their in-train operations by adding Wi-Fi hot spots at each station. When using this service, a train rider could connect to the internet and make reservations, pay fares, or enter information into a system that would then be sent to a communication center. Once entered, the station’s software would also track and log the user’s Wi-Fi connection status, and if the train was not running or going slower than desired, a signal booster would be deployed. If the rider still had internet access, he or she would simply pay the penalty and continue their trip.

Another industry application that has been adopted successfully by MSPs is netCloud’s Real Time Information Platform (RIT). RIT provides cloud connectivity and real-time application execution over the public Internet. As an example, a healthcare company may want to keep tabs on its patients as they come and go from their facility. RIT will allow the company to monitor patient information, collect necessary data, and configure an interface that will connect to a variety of applications running on the organization’s cloud infrastructure.

A fourth application is the mobile network backbone product called 4G LTE. This is a family of low-cost and high-speed standard base radios developed by industry leaders like Samsung, Cisco, and Nokia. These radio solutions provide a low cost, high availability, mobility solution for both commercial and consumer markets. Simultaneously, companies that need more bandwidth and faster access points can rapidly deploy these LTE products in-house.

The final type of mobile network solutions, we are going to discuss is called Retail Virtual POS Software. This product is specifically designed to meet the needs of restaurant and retail businesses that have limited IT resources. In short, it is a software solution that automates POS transactions in malls and shopping centers. This reduces the need for employees to carry around cumbersome devices or print receipts. Rather, everyone is able to log into a secure network at any point of the business day.
